The Utrecht Congress Alliance (UCA), established in 2024, is committed to positioning Utrecht as the premier city and region for hosting international high-level conferences. Specifically, the focus is on conferences that align with the positioning of ‘Utrecht, Heart of Health‘ and complement the regional priorities of Life Sciences & Health, New Digital Society and Smart Sustainability.
What does the collaboration entail?
- Attracting relevant conferences that contribute to Utrecht’s economic development and knowledge advancement.
- Consolidating strengths between government, knowledge institutions and the business sector.
- Enhancing the quality and strategic impact of conferences in the region.
- Fostering collaboration between members to increase synergy and effectiveness.
The Utrecht Congress Alliance is a partnership between public and private entities including Utrecht Municipality, Utrecht Province, ROM Utrecht Region, HOST (foundation of Utrecht hoteliers), Utrecht University, Royal Jaarbeurs and Utrecht Marketing (with its Utrecht Convention Bureau).
Mission
The UCA strengthens Utrecht’s position as an international conference destination by attracting strategically relevant conferences. Through collaboration between government, knowledge institutions and the business community, we create an ecosystem in which conferences contribute to the economic growth, knowledge development and innovation capacity of the Utrecht region. The UCA thereby contributes to the international positioning of ‘Utrecht, Heart of Health’.
Vision
The UCA aims for Utrecht to be a leading conference region in Europe. Through targeted acquisition, collaboration with local and international partners, and leveraging Utrecht’s expertise, we select conferences that have a lasting impact on the knowledge and economic infrastructure. Quality takes precedence over quantity. The top 50 International Conferences identified in March 2024 are used as a guideline for this purpose.
