A coffee with Nina de Groof, Project Officer at the Utrecht Convention Bureau. Her journey to further position Utrecht as a (inter)national conference destination began in November 2025. Nina supports the account managers with the preparation of bid books, partner relations, FAM trips and other connecting events.
How do you prefer your coffee in the morning?
“Preferably with milk or oat milk and two sweeteners.”
Tell us more about your role at UCB / Utrecht & Partners
“As a Project Officer, I support the account managers and assist with the organisation of FAM trips and connecting events. I hope to learn a great deal here and to connect with many inspiring partners. Who knows, I may grow into an account manager role in the future and help put Utrecht even more firmly on the map — although that is hardly a challenge, as Utrecht already has so much to offer.”
What are you currently working on / working towards?
“At present, I am actively involved in several congress bids for which we are developing bid books. This is a creative process that I greatly enjoy, as it involves collaborating with a wide range of partners and genuinely contributing ideas on how Utrecht can position itself as a congress destination. In addition, I am gathering information on the congresses that took place over the past year, which provides valuable insights.
I look back with great pleasure on organising the FAM-trip EventSummit 2026. It was a rewarding project in which collaboration and showcasing the possibilities of Utrecht were central. I hope to realise many more inspiring projects of this kind in the future.”
What is your favourite place in the Utrecht region?
“My favourite place is the Dom Tower. Every day when I arrive at the office, I am once again impressed. Especially during a beautiful sunrise, when the tower looks at its very best, it remains magical — I simply have to take a photo.”
Who would you like to have a cup of coffee with?
“With all our partners! I enjoy conversations and meeting new people, and I would love to get to know everyone personally over a cup of coffee.”
