A coffee with Jasper Heemskerk, Team Leader of the Utrecht Convention Bureau since 1 January 2026. Get to know Jasper and discover what his role as Team Leader entails, and how he experiences working in Utrecht and at Utrecht & Partners.

How do you prefer to drink your coffee in the morning?

“Black, and preferably served in a pre-warmed cup.”

Tell us more about your role at UCB / Utrecht & Partners

“As Team Leader of the UCB, I work together with the team on a daily basis to position the city and the region as a leading business destination. With great dedication, and each of us drawing on our own expertise, we actively connect with partners and stakeholders and join forces. We do this not only externally, but also internally, by working closely with colleagues from, among others, culture, leisure and the Dom Tower, in order to create even greater impact. In this way, we collaborate on building a strong positioning for what is, in my view, the most beautiful city and region in the country.”

What is the best thing you have done recently?

“One of the great things about working at Utrecht & Partners is that you visit many places you have never been before. Balatonfüred in Hungary was one of those places. It was fantastic to announce there, together with our partners, that the EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Congress will be coming to Utrecht this year.”

What is your favourite place in the Utrecht region?

“A difficult question, as Utrecht and the surrounding region offer so many beautiful places that I enjoy visiting. That said, during lunch I often take a walk along the Nieuwegracht. Right in the city centre, it is a wonderfully calm part of Utrecht, with stunning monumental canal houses and wharf cellars.”

With whom would you like to have a cup of coffee someday?

“As a sports enthusiast, and especially as a cycling fan, I would choose Mathieu van der Poel. I would love to hear his stories from the races.”
