Castellum Hoge Woerd
Now a days you can find a modern fortress with its 6 meter high walls that was built in 2015 where once stood an old fortress that guarded the river: Castellum Hoge Woerd. Behind these newly build walls you can find an archaeological museum (Museum Hoge Woerd), the stables of the city farm and educational centre of nature and environment (Steede Hoge Woerd), a professional theatre (Podium Hoge Woerd) and a cafe-restaurant (CastellumCafe). Combined these form Castellum Hoge Woerd.
Castellum Hoge Woerd is a unique and historical surrounding in a modern environment. It’s well suited for business meetings, seminars, presentations, lectures, workshops and meetings. Apart from a professional and fully equipped theatre there are three meetingrooms, Balneum, Hortus and Vicus, and a studio for rent. All the rooms are provided with modern presentation equipment.
It’s possible to use a variety of rooms. You can book the entire Pavilion with or without the theatre. The Pavilion consists out of the theatre, restaurant and café, foyer and the space surrounding the historical showpiece: a roman boat ‘De Meern 1’.
Castellum Hoge Woerd has a central location in the Netherlands and lays west of the city Utrecht, close to De Meern. Its borders to the southside of Maximapark in Leidsche Rijn; a lush green nature recreation area surrounded by a 10 kilometres long path which is meant to be used for recreational purposes.
